Research in theoretical physics can be conducted anywhere. Through Zoom, Teams, and email, we can conduct research together even if we are geographically separated. If you are interested in our research, please do not hesitate to contact us
For undergraduate or master’s students
If you are an undergraduate or master’s student, please consider joining Yokohama National University (YNU) when you graduate. In addition to the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarships, Japan has a well-developed system of scholarships for foreign students (see also this JASSO page).
For the MEXT Scholarships, please ask a recommendation from your university or the Japanese embassy in your country. If you get the recommendation or a scholarship in other programs, you are basically quite welcome to join our group.
After admission, you will have the chance to be hired as a research assistant in the university. The tuition can be waived by a YNU program. In the Doctoral Program (Ph.D. course), you will be financially supported by being a Special Research Fellow or Special Scholarship Student in YNU.
There is enough room for the Doctoral Program (Ph.D. course), and you need no special preparation to enter it.
For Ph.D. students
Even if you already are a graduate student in a laboratory somewhere, you are welcome to collaborate with us and expand the variety of your research. Why not collaborate with us to conduct theoretical analysis of your experimental results? You can find details on the short-term study abroad program, here. We also facilitate virtual collaboration over Zoom, Teams, or email without the need for you to visit Japan. If your research is close to ours, we may also hire you as a research assistant, even if you are at another university.
For researchers who will receive their Ph.D. in the near future
If you have already received or in the near future will receive your Ph.D., it is also possible to engage you as a postdoctoral candidate. You are encouraged to contact us in advance, keeping in mind the uncertainty of the funding situation. Besides, we will offer our support in helping you secure a suitable fellowship available, for example, the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships for Research in Japan.
For experimental researchers
We always welcome good collaborations. Please do not hesitate to contact us when you find any experimental
results hard to understand and would like to work together to gain deeper insight.
